With summer in full force there’s no shortage of skin bearing outfits and as everyone (including myself) strives for the best legs – here are a few quick tips on achieving effortless smooth legs:
Tip #1 - Exfoliate: For me this is the most important step when prepping your legs. Exfoliating removes the dead dry skin creating a smooth even surface for shaving. Another advantage to exfoliating is that it helps with preventing ingrown hairs. Currently I’m using the Kopari Coconut Crush Scrub and it is pretty good – the smell reminds me of the beach. Any body scrub works, however I will suggest using one that has a coarse texture to help buff your skin and nothing with a greasy residue for it won’t clog your razor. Alternatively you can also opt for an exfoliating mitt.
Tip #2 – Smooth Shave: Using any type of shaving gel/cream is essential to for a smooth shave; it helps the razor glide effortlessly while protecting your legs from any nicks. One of my favorites is the EOS Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream, (as the name suggests) it keeps my legs hydrated and does not cause irritation. As for the razor choose one that you are comfortable with using. I like using the BIC Soleil Disposable Razors, it provides a close clean shave and it doesn’t have intense moisturizing bars around it which I’m usually allergic to. Each razor has a cover for the blades and they are disposable which is great for when traveling.
Tip #3 - Moisturize: Moisturizing after you shave is essential in keeping you skin feeling soft, it's like after care for your legs. I am constantly switching up my moisturizer and at the moment I’m enjoying the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Firming Butter. I have very dry skin, so I prefer thicker formulas and this is hydrating yet doesn’t take forever to blend in. Not sure if it actually ‘firms and tones’ but it sure does keep you moisturized. It has the cocoa butter scent, so if you are sensitive to that I wouldn’t recommend it, but it is a great product.
Hope these tips are helpful! Let me know if there are any tips/tricks you use to keep your legs smooth through these summer months.
